{{ externalimage }} How do you make a stainless steel work of art?Stainless steel art commissions , free work or garden statuesIt is challenging for an artist to carry out an art assignment. There is often a specific wish for a work of art in the garden (garden statues), entrance or as an award or (wedding) gift.It is different from making so-called free work , but not necessarily less free. Or as Goethe said: In der Beschränkung zeigt sich erst der Meister .
Design stainless steel sculpturesBefore you start making a sculpture, there must first be a design. As a stainless steel artist-sculptor it starts with sketching. If between those sketches – it could also be a scribble on the corner of the newspaper – there is one that “something” follows the next step. Stainless steel art sculptures – small modelsYou try to make a 3D model of the sketch as well as possible. This can be done in the computer with a 3D program. It often works faster (and more fun) to just make it from cardboard, wax or wood. Feeling the material in your hands gives a dimension that 3D programs do not have. 3D programs, on the other hand, can display the weather very realistically, as if the sculpture or art statue was already made of stainless steel. So it almost always starts with a number of sketches that end up in small scale models made of cardboard. Then I first make a mock- up or prototype of cheap sculpting material such as wax, clay, cardboard or wood for most stainless steel art statues or stainless steel sculptures . Stainless steel sculpture Prototype or Mock-upIf you like the small model of the artwork; or if I like the 3D artist’s impression , I first make the design of the stainless steel sculpture in full size from cheap material. Think of sculptural materials such as cardboard, clay, wood or plaster. The life-size art statue gives a good impression of the proportions. You can also immediately see whether the stainless steel sculpture or work of art does not look too large or small.
Make stainless steel art sculptureYou can make stainless steel sculptures or stainless steel art with various metal processing techniques. If the shape and proportions are in order after various refinements, the sculpture or art statue will get its shape by cutting, tapping, setting, bending and / or welding the stainless steel or stainless steel. Stainless steel sheet metal and stainless steel profiles are then the final material that I work with as a sculptor / artist. https://www.jeroenstok.com/en/all-sculptures-and-sculptures/ Finish stainless steel artThe skin of the stainless steel art statues and sculptures is given a beautiful and appropriate finish. The images can be ground smooth and then polished to a high gloss. The sculpture then shines like a mirror. Sometimes I consciously make parts of the stainless steel sculptures and art sculptures dull or matt. The contrast in the shiny parts gives the art object tension and makes the work of art fascinate. A finish such as directionless sanded or brushed stainless steel can also go well with a beautiful sculpture or art image. Quality stainless steel sculpturesTo ensure that the sculptures remain beautiful, I use the best quality stainless steel. The used stainless steel of stainless steel Sculptures has the quality 316 (stainless steel 316) which is suitable for the most severe conditions. This means that an art sculpture also remains beautiful outside. Stainless steel works of art can therefore be placed inside the home or office as well as outside in the garden or public space.
